BP28-12 belongs to the B.B. Battery BP series of VRLA batteries. The series is produced as complete units, with voltages covering 4V, 6V, and 12V and capacities ranging from 1.0Ah to 230Ah. The battery case is made of sturdy, opaque, impact-resistant ABS plastic; the battery cover is firmly joined to the case and sealed around the terminal area. BP28-12 comes standard with B1 Terminal Type and is also available with optional T2 I1 Terminal Type. The battery cover has six filling holes used during production to fill the electrolyte, after which pressure relief valves made of non-combustible material are installed, achieving Maintenance Free operation with no electrolyte topping up and ensuring leak-proof performance and fire and explosion safety. Both the positive and negative plates are coated with high-performance paste, and together with valve-regulated sealing technology this keeps the battery's monthly self-discharge rate below 3%. The battery supports both vertical and horizontal installation, measures 175 mm (6.89 in) in length, 166 mm (6.54 in) in width, and 125 mm (4.92 in) in height, and weighs approximately 9.6 kg (21.17 lb). The Nominal Capacity of BP28-12 is 28Ah at the 20-hour rate, 26.6Ah at the 10-hour rate, and 23.8Ah at the 5-hour rate. According to the Eurobat standard, BP series batteries have an expected service life of up to 8 to 10 years under normal operating conditions.
